Goodness! I know I’m not the only mama who struggles with a no napping toddler. This must be my karma since I didn’t sleep through the night until I was over 11 months old.
My daughter has never been a good napper. It is so painful to get her down. She doesn’t want to miss a thing. While I am obsessed with my little girl, she needs to sleep. She needs a break. Oh man, do I need a break.
Every once in a while, I catch her at exactly the right moment and we will get a good nap in. We started the new year in a big girl bed. There is absolutely no napping happening there! She has to sleep in mommy’s bed. The other requirement is I have to be right next to her.
This whole process takes at least 2 sippy cups of milk, a full tummy, and at least 1 diaper change between cups of milk. There will definitely be some tears. During this time my daughter only speaks in whine and gibberish. It’s maddening!
During those blissful moments when she decides it is acceptable to sleep she is a pure angel. Looking into that sweet face I almost want to wake her up so I can kiss those cute chubby cheeks. Then I remember that would be insane. The struggle is real. My baby is adorable. While she wins the worst napper award in the history of the universe, I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Maybe trade in for a nap on occasion.
