I thought that once I became a mom, I would naturally become a morning person. Thus far, this hasn’t happened. I am thinking this will never happen.
On more than one occasion, once my daughter has woken up I will climb back in bed and let her play around my room. She enjoys shiny things and has been thoroughly entertained playing with a KitKat wrapper! This has easily bought me an additional 30 minutes of my beloved sleep several times.
I see all these moms online and on Facebook raving about all the things they have accomplished due to getting up early because of their children. I am not a full functional human being until at least 11am. I’m not much of a night person either. Basically, from 11am – 3pm I am the best version of myself.
I can’t tell you how many times I have let my daughter play with things, climb the furniture, eat dessert all in the hopes that I would be able to squeeze in a few extra moments to myself in dream land. I am lucky that this kid is easily entertained and plays well by herself.
When it’s time for her to be in school I wonder if I will acclimate to earlier mornings. I don’t know how all these moms do it. They are amazing! I’m not the least bit productive until I have had a shower and a couple hours to adjust to a new day.
I should probably thank KitKat, even if people don’t agree with my parenting choices to get extra sleep. KitKat wrappers are apparently fascinating. I will happily provide her with wrappers of any kind if it makes her happy and lets me sleep!
