It’s Finally Autumn

I know the first day of fall was yesterday, but the season has just begun. I have been by myself with my toddler, while my husband is out of town. Have I ever said how amazing single parents are? I am in awe of you. Single parents deserve awards.

Anyway, this is my favorite time of year. I love the smells, the clean crisp air, not sweating profusely in everything I own. Colorado is gorgeous, the colors during the fall are stunning. I lived in the Midwest until I was 13, the falls there fill me with longing. I loved going to apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and seeing the trees of many vibrant colors. We don’t have apple orchards here. At least not near the Rocky Mountains. That screams fall to me, so not having one leave a teeny tiny hole in my heart.

I think a lot of people love fall. It’s comforting somehow. My birthday is in the fall, might be why it’s my favorite season. Fall signifies the beginning of the holiday season. Starting with my birthday. Next it’s Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. My husband wouldn’t let me put up the Christmas tree last weekend. I know it’s super early, but I was feeling cheerful and wanted to decorate.

As I’ve written about before, my mom is just so classy. She decorates for every season. Magazine quality decorating here. She watches my daughter on the days that I work and I come home sometimes to find that she has changed my seasonal stuff. I think the majority of my seasonal decorations have come from her. I love it. Probably since I saw my mom decorate for the seasons throughout my childhood it’s just something you do. My house will never look like hers, but it will be festive. I’ll show you pictures of her decorating since they are much better than mine.

This post doesn’t really have a point and I’m kind of all over the place. I wanted to welcome everyone to the start of the fall season. Drink some hot chocolate or cider, throw on a sweatshirt and read a good book. Start to find that perfect pumpkin for carving, go on a hay ride and treasure the loved ones around you!

  1. But if you decorate for Christmas now you’ll miss Haloween, fall and Thanksgiving! All those beautiful colors! Have a beautiful autumn and thanks for the lovely blog.

  2. Loved the post and your site! Although I am sad to see summer over, I don’t mind autumn mainly because of football season though. =) And I agree single parents definitely deserve awards.

  3. When my husband travels I am in awe of single parents too – lovely post. Autumn is my son’t birthday so it’s a great month 🙂

  4. Hi! Stopping by from Mom Bloggers Club to give you support ☺ I also love autumn, because of the colours and upcoming holidays. If your birthday hasn’t passed I wish you happy birthday and all the best in life and also with your blog! ☺

  5. I have always thought of keeping a tree up all year long and decorating it according to the holiday that falls in that month. My husband says it’s nuts. Not to mention that he likes having a real tree at Christmas instead of a fake one. Love the holidays! Thank you for sharing with #momsterslink.

    • Thanks for hosting the link-ups. I think I’m finally starting to understand them. One of my mom’s friends has a tree all year and changes decorations to the appropriate holidays. It’s fake of course. While I like how easy a fake tree is, the smell of real trees are amazing! I love the holidays too, clearly!
