Thankful Thursday #2

(PC: The Berry)

Today I am especially thankful for having both sides of our family living close to us. We have an entire household that either has the stomach flu or food poisoning. We were able to call my sister-in-law up and she came over to help take care of the little rascal while we are resting. She also brought some ginger ale, anti-nausea medicine, crackers and Pedialite. So thoughtful.

That is not our only benefit. We are fortunate to be able to see both sides of our families for the holidays. My daughter gets to grow up knowing both sets of grandparents and cousins. We don’t have a lot of expensive holiday travel to see our loved ones. I might have mentioned this before, but we also get free childcare. My mom keeps my mini me safe, I will never be able to express my gratitude for the peace of mind. Knowing my child is in amazing hands while I’m at work is a blessing.

This time of year it can be easy to get caught up in the holiday hype. It’s also easy  to reflect on all the things we are already blessed with. With my job, I work with people who are chronically mentally ill, homeless, have addiction issues and/or have limited to no support systems. I am so grateful to have shelter, enough food, loved ones and stability in my life.

I may start posting a Thankful Thursday every Thursday instead of just in November. I want to focus more on the positives in my life. If you’d like to share what your grateful for I’d always love to hear what makes other people happy, fulfilled and feeling blessed.

  1. Hi! I really appreciate your thankful Thursday blog post. In our materialistic world it is easy to forget what is truly important in life, especially after a night of watching HGTV. I think it’s a great idea to continue your thankfulness throughout the year and not just in November!

    • Thank you, I appreciate it! Oh yes HGTV makes me want everything and the perfect house. Don’t get me wrong, I still love stuff, sometimes I wish I didn’t. But every time I think a “thing” will make me happy it doesn’t work. I do want to try to be more grateful throughout the year. Thanks for stopping by!
